Past Event: MUSICOPIA - Afro-Brazilian Drumming

The Friends of the Bulldog Park hosted an afternoon of Afro-Brazilian Drumming by Musicopia.

Musicopia is a Philadelphia-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing equitable access to music education and enrichment for Pre-K to 12th grade students, particularly in communities lacking adequate arts programs. Through a roster of professional teaching artists, it offers a wide range of dynamic programs, including in-school assemblies, workshops, residencies, and long-term after-school ensembles like the Musicopia String Orchestras and Musicopia Drumlines. A key component of its work is the "Gift of Music" program, which collects, repairs, and donates musical instruments to students in need, ensuring that enthusiastic young musicians have the equipment necessary to learn and perform. Musicopia's mission is to use the power of the arts to encourage self-confidence, discipline, global awareness, and joy in children's lives.

Past Event: LOVE YOUR PARK - Spring Clean-Up

Twice a year the Fairmount Park Commission, through Friends of the Park organizes a citywide park clean-up called Love Your Park.

In the spring, Love Your Park Week is held in May, and in the fall, a service weekend is held in November. These volunteer days of cleaning and greening attract thousands of volunteers to various parks throughout the Philadelphia park system.

In the Bulldog Park, we had 15 volunteers come up to help us rake leaves, prune, mulch and generally tidy our little park.
