In June 1894, this picture was taken standing in the middle of Pennsylvania Ave (then a railroad track) looking back at the corner of 25th and Pennsylvania. The site had 20+ row homes and a tobacco shop on the corner
Philadelphia Museum of Art was constructed between 1919 and 1928. In this picture, from the early 1920’s you can clearly see buildings on the future park site, but by 1925 they had been demolished.
After completion of the Fidelity Mutual Life Insurance Company’s building in 1928 (now the Perelman Annex to the Philadelphia Museum of Art) the future park site lay vacant for many years
Aerial View from 1934. The 2400 and 2600 blocks of Pennsylvania Ave have been leveled and the future Bulldog Park is a barren lot
Aerial View from 1957. The 2400 block of Pennsylvania Ave is still barren, and the Park has but a single tree.
