Past Event: MUSICOPIA - Afro-Brazilian Drumming

The Friends of the Bulldog Park hosted an afternoon of Afro-Brazilian Drumming by Musicopia.

Musicopia is a Philadelphia-based non-profit organization dedicated to providing equitable access to music education and enrichment for Pre-K to 12th grade students, particularly in communities lacking adequate arts programs. Through a roster of professional teaching artists, it offers a wide range of dynamic programs, including in-school assemblies, workshops, residencies, and long-term after-school ensembles like the Musicopia String Orchestras and Musicopia Drumlines. A key component of its work is the "Gift of Music" program, which collects, repairs, and donates musical instruments to students in need, ensuring that enthusiastic young musicians have the equipment necessary to learn and perform. Musicopia's mission is to use the power of the arts to encourage self-confidence, discipline, global awareness, and joy in children's lives.
